Cycle Power - Vietnam

Gary Connor is a champion handcyclist, disability sport ambassador with Wheelchair Sports Victoria and paraplegic.  He will embark on
the adventure of a lifetime to raise funds to support people with disabilities.  Gary will be cycling 540 kilometres over 14 days from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.  Gary's adventure will take place from 16-30 July 2011.

2010 Disability Sport and Recreation Festival

Wheelchair Sports Victoria is proud to host the inaugural Disability Sport & Recreation Festival on International Day of People with Disability on Friday 3rd December, 2010.

Scoring the Equaliser is the first Mini-Conference of the disability sport and recreation sector, hosted by Wheelchair Sports Victoria and proudly supported by the State Government Victoria, City of Melbourne and Federation Square. It is an interactive, unique public event promoting healthy, physically active lifestyles through participation in accessible and inclusive sport and recreation.

Scoring the Equaliser Mini-Conference is part of the Disability Sport and Recreation Festival - 'Able and Active' to celebrate International Day of People with Disability.

Focusing on equity and participation for health, Scoring the Equaliser will:

  • examine person-centred approaches, barriers and enablers to participation
  • showcase innovation in inclusive and accessible community sport and recreation programs
  • present research findings
  • discuss ideas for sector collaboration to achieve better health outcomes for people with disability through sport and recreation.

The event will include:

  • o Annual Disability Sports Awards Breakfast
  • o Community Sport & Recreation Exhibition
  • o 'Come and Try' style accessible sport & recreation activities
  • o Mini-Conference 'Scoring the Equaliser'
  • o Lunchtime "Knock Out" Corporate Wheelchair Basketball Challenge.

The conference is a free event and will be held at BMW Edge, Federation Square, Melbourne, Friday, December 3, 2010, between 10am - 12pm. Doors open 9.30am.

Norden Bodyworks at 2010 QCTIA Conference

Norden will send a delegation of representatives to the inaugural Queensland Community Transport Industry Association Inc. Conference to be held on 13th and 14th September, 2010, at SeaWorld Resort on the Gold Coast.

The event is aimed at drawing together people and organisations involved in all levels of community transport, to discuss industry specific ideas, and exchange ideas for the benefit of attendees - those committed to alleviating transport disadvantage in Qld.

2010 Villa Maria Charity Golf Day

The 2010 Villa Maria Charity Golf Day will be held at Southern Golf Club, Keysborough on Monday, October 25.

Organisers hope to raise $70 000 to help make a better future for older people and those with a disability.

As a major sponsor, Norden Bodyworks is sending in a team to support the cause.  Proceeds from the day will go toward two very important services:

  • The 'my future my choice' initiative at Austin Street, Alphington
  •  Villa Maria's children's respite services

The Brotherhood works not just to alleviate poverty but to prevent it

The Brotherhood's services are mostly clustered in Victorian locations (including Frankston, Fitzroy and Craigieburn) where they can have the greatest impact through a community strengthening approach to bring about neighbourhood change. Elsewhere, for example in the national Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters HIPPY and in the Saver Plus matched savings program, they work through partnerships with other organisations well established in local communities.

Wheelchair Basketball

Wheelchair Sports Victoria is pleased to announce the appointment of Norden Conversion as the official sponsor of the Victorian Wheelchair Basketball League for 2010.

Norden Conversion are the industry leaders in adapting vehicle access for reduced mobility. Specialising in wheelchair access, they create solutions for all transport needs.

The relationship between Wheelchair Sports Victoria and Norden Conversion extends over many years and this new sponsorship arrangement will further strengthen this relationship.

The Victorian Wheelchair Basketball League is the most highly participated sport for people with a disability in Victoria. Norden turns 50

On Saturday October 2nd 2010 Norden Body Works will officially celebrate its 50th year in business.

From the humble beginnings in Springvale to Bennet St Dandenong Norden has come a long way since 1959, and many people have passed through our doors. So over the following months we endeavor to track down and contact those people who have had a hand in making Norden what it is today.

Villa Maria RTG Charity Golf Day

Villa Maria, together with Reflex Technology Group, hosted a charity golf day at Southern Golf Club, Keysborough on Monday 19 October 2009.

All proceeds from this year's golf day will go towards the 'my future my choice' initiative at Austin Street, Alphington,
a purpose-specific home being built for young people currently living in nursing homes.

Norden will be entered a team of 4 consisting of Robert "Tiger" Anson, David "The Great White Shark" Meakin,
Nick "Happy Gilmore" Kotsonis and Jared "Where's my ball gone" Foster.

Although Team Norden's performance was "Below Par" our score was not.
We finished towards the tail end of the field, but it was Villa Maria on the day that was the real winner.

Melbourne's Longest Cake

Norden Conversion is proud to be a part of the 2009 "Melbournes Longest Cake".

We will take time out from our vehicle access modifiactions to take part in this years event.

Melbourne's Longest Cake raises awareness and support for Cerebral Palsy and will take place on Sunday March 15th at 10am till 12:30pm along the Yarra Promenade so please come down and show your support, and try a piece of our double choc chocolate cake, there will be celebrities and entertainment, and that's just the Norden crew......
